Slow and Steady

We started reading the Book of Mormon together as a family before Brooke went away to college. We are happy to say that we finished it last night and are so happy that we just took it a little bit at a time. We tried to read a chapter a night and some days it really was just great if we read a couple of verses. We missed some days, but set a goal as a family and we have completed it. It is amazing to read about the record of a fallen people. This record warns us to avoid pride and the continuous cycle of becoming prosperous, forgetting God...because things are good, losing sight in what we should be focused on...which is following Christ and fully coming unto Him. We become wicked and ungrateful and then need to repent to become humble and return to Christ to receive full blessings. I am grateful that we have this record that testifies of Christ and we know what we need to do to make ourselves worthy to be with Him again. Follow the prophets and their teachings. We will be blessed when we are humble and can make ourselves truly clean. Let us learn from those that have gone before. It is our privilege to teach of Christ at this time and bring others unto Him. We are a missionary church, we are disciples of Christ. I am excited for General Conference coming up.

Gordon B. Hinckley spoke of the miracle of the restoration and our responsibility to help move the work forward:

This glorious gospel was ushered in with the appearance of the Father and the Son to a boy Joseph. The dawn of the dispensation of the fullness of times rose upon the world. All of the good, the beautiful, the divine of all previous dispensations was restored in this most remarkable season...

Do we really comprehend, do we understand the tremendous significance of that which we have?...

We of this generation are the end harvest of all that has gone before. It is not enough to simply be known as a member of this Church. A solemn obligation rests upon us. Let us face it and work at it.

We must live as true followers of Chirst, with charity toward all, returning good for evil, teaching by example the ways of The Lord, and accomplishing the vast service He has outlined for us. (April Conference Report 2004)

I love this gospel and am so grateful to be a part of the end harvest of this generation. I hope all of us can be excited to arm ourselves daily with the Word of God and spread it throughout the world.

I love you all. We will be starting the Book of Mormon again.

Best friends finally! At least for a couple hours.

Bennett has been obsessed with trying to hold Lottie's hand as they walk. She usually just screams at him but today she decided to hold his hand. Now they have just been walking everywhere holding hands. It is the cutest thing.

Winter Storm Marcus

There are steps under there somewhere
Because it's another snow day Zack woke up early and snow blowed the driveway and front walk so Kevin could drop him off at his friend's house on his way to work. I am becoming a shut in...never leaving my basement, sitting in front of my fire.
I LOVE HEAT!
The top of the hot tub was cleared before last night's snow fall...it is still snowing and is supposed to ALL DAY LONG!

Trapped in no place to go
"Hmmmm, I used to be able to just walk right over to that tree...not sure what is going on."
Over 2 feet of snow overnight last week.
Don't be too jealous Dad. Our almost 5 feet of snow in 2 1/2 weeks cannot even compete with your 70 degrees and Cami's almost 80 degrees. Church was cancelled yesterday, another snow day for us today!!! Craziness I say! The only plus is we have played Bonanza, Clue, Cranium and Mario Party as a family. Now I wish I could get Nat to play card games with me. Zack mentioned wishing we had Killer Bunnies. Ginger! Where are you when we need you? Enjoy your day!

Ruby Update

Ruby is now 7 months 11 days old. She has been crawling for about 2 weeks now and is getting quite good at it. I call her crawling, "crawling for a purpose". She'll only crawl to get to something she sees right then. She's not exploration crawling just yet.
.
She also has 1 tooth coming in. Mom noticed it on Wednesday and I noticed it yesterday. So exciting that she's growing. Not so exciting that she's growing so quickly. She is just getting over ear infections so it's nice to have my happy baby back.
.
I have a couple of videos of her crawling and laughing. She's just the cutest thing ever and we love her so much!!!
