East Canyon Adventure - So Grateful!

I am writing with Rachelle's login because mine still isn't able to add posts for some reason.

Cami and Juan, you probably already heard how unwise I was about trying to take the Jeremy Ranch road into East Canyon.  We got stuck in the snow and Dad, Darren, Sam, Spencer, and Zack had to come save us.  We got stuck 3 or 4 more times on the way to the condo, which took about 2 hours in -8 degrees weather.  I just wanted to blog about the experience and thank you all for helping.

Anyhow, today, Joshua got up and bore his testimony.  He talked about how he didn't listen hard enough to the still small voice last week before we got stuck in the snow.  To his credit, he actually did listen to the still small voice because he told me he didn't feel good about going that way but I didn't listen to him enough to turn around.  He told the ward that he should have been more persuasive with me so I would listen.  But he ended his testimony by saying that Heavenly Father blessed us even though we didn't turn back.  I think that was a good lesson to learn.  Even though I didn't make a wise choice Heavenly Father still blessed us in the end.

I also wanted to thank Dad, Darren, Sam, Spencer, and Zack for coming to the rescue.  Dad, I have always looked to you as my hero and you did it again.  When I was on the phone with Dad, I said that I didn't want them to come and get stuck also.  Dad said, "Well, we aren't going to let you just stay stuck there in the cold."  They brought Heather's Toyota Highlander, which did much better than my Honda Pilot in the snow.  That was a very big blessing because then we didn't have to get two cars out of the snow.  Dad said that Zack and Spencer needed some persuasion to come and help but I am sure glad they came because we needed all the push power we could muster.

When we were getting the car unstuck on the third or fourth time, Sam was telling Spencer and Zack that if they were just back at the condo playing games or being lazy, they wouldn't remember this in 10 years.  Now they were creating a memory that they could talk about for years when they went to save their Uncle Paul.  That made me laugh.  Thank you Sam for your help and keeping things light.  And I also wanted to thank Darren for driving the last part of the drive.  He did an amazing move when we went completely off the path.  He was able to somehow get us out of there by keeping going and he even did a full 180 at one point before pulling out.

I also wanted to thank all of you back at the condo for praying for us.  I know we were blessed because of it.  Thank you again for all you do.  You are a wonderful family and I love you so much.  It was so fun to see everyone at Christmas.  And Cami, it was so fun to talk to you on Christmas Eve.  I love you all and I am so grateful!

Olsen Family Adventure End of May-June-July Update


Multi-stake women's conference where Elder Holland showed up to speak to us.

We attended a walk for life with Natalie and her school friends. Carley participated in a pie eating contest.

Natalie went stag and so did the king (standing far left). They had the first dance and no one had to be jealous.
Natalie ended up receiving a 40,000 scholarship to attend University of Rochester. $10K per year still makes it too expensive to attend.;(

We decided to stay over in Sharon VT at Camp Joseph and camp for the night. We attended church the next morning and then visited Joseph Smith's birth place afterward.
Zack visited the rock wall part that we reconstructed with the youth at youth conference last year.

Summer is almost here and gone. Brooke will be home so soon...followed by Sadie. I love being back here in Utah. I cannot wait to get into a home and start feeling more like we are not just on vacation. I hope our stuff made it here okay.
